To The North Wall

THE LAST BASTION TO FALL AT THE ALAMO

Brief

For this piece, I used a friend of mine as the model because was an extra in the movie Two for Texas. The piece depicts one of Crockett’s men urging his comrades to defend the North Wall of the Alamo.  His equipment consists of long rifle, flint lock pistol, powder horn, paper cartridge box, bowl reamer, tomahawk, and cotton bag for anything else he might need. He is wearing Mexican Bota leggings, with moccasins he might have picked up during his journey, as well as the traditional hunting jacket of the time. The Kentucky long rifle I sculpted using a photograph of a rifle captured at the Alamo.

The North Wall was the last bastion to fall at the Battle of the Alamo, and according to Capt. Penya, one of Santa Anna’s officers, Crockett’s men were the last to fall during the battle.
